Building Department Fee Schedule

Payment of fees. A permit shall not be valid until the fees as prescribed by law have been paid, nor shall an amendment to a permit be released until the additional fee, if any, has been paid.

Building permit valuations. The applicant for a permit shall provide the construction value at the time of application. Permit valuations shall include total value of the work, including materials and labor, for which the permit is being issued such as electrical, gas, mechanical, plumbing equipment and permanent systems. If, in the opinion of the building official, the valuation is underestimated on the application, the permit shall be denied unless the applicant can show detailed cost to meet the approval of the building official. Final building permit valuation shall be set by the building official by utilizing either:

Building permit valuations to include the total cost, such as electrical, gas, mechanical, plumbing and other systems, including materials and labor.  If, in the opinion of the Building Official, the valuation of building, alteration or structure appears to be underestimated on the application, the permit shall be denied, unless the application can show a detailed cost estimate to meet the approval of the Building Official.  The Building Official may estimate the permit valuations by using the most current Building Valuation Worksheet provided by the (ICC) International Code Council.  Valuation of all new construction shall be determined by the current published (ICC) International Code Council Building Valuation Data Table.

All other permits shall be based on construction the valuation as indicated on the building permit application.

Schedule of permit fees. On all buildings, structures, electrical, gas, mechanical and plumbing systems or alterations requiring a permit, a fee for each permit shall be paid as required as follows:

  • Minimum fee of sixty dollars ($60.00) for all permits; or
  • Valuation up to fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00): multiply thousand dollars of value, or fraction thereof, of the valuation multiplied by seven dollars fifty cents ($7.50) plus twenty dollars ($20.00); or
  • Valuation of fifty thousand one dollar ($50,001.00) to one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00): multiply thousand dollars of value, or fraction thereof, of the valuation multiplied by four dollars ($4.00) plus two hundred sixty-five dollars ($265.00); or
  • Valuation over one hundred thousand one dollars ($100,001.00) to five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00): multiply thousand dollars of value, or fraction thereof, of the valuation multiplied by three dollars ($3.00) plus four hundred sixty-five dollars ($465.00); or
  • Valuation over five hundred thousand one dollars ($500,001.00): multiply thousand dollars of value, or fraction thereof, of the valuation multiplied by two dollars ($2.00) plus one thousand six hundred sixty-five dollars ($1,665.00).

Plan review fees, when applicable: fifty (50) percent of the building permit fee.

There is a State Surcharge of two and one-half (2.5) percent of the "building" permit cost or four dollars ($4.00), whichever is greater, for all building permits, except fences.

Additional fees as follows.

  • Work without a permit: One hundred (100) percent of the building permit fee.
  • Failure to call for a final inspection fee: One hundred dollars ($100.00).
  • Reissuance of an expired permit shall be the original building permit fee (not including the building plan review fee).
  • Plan Examination fee for Multi-Family and Commercial projects: Fifty (50) percent of permit fee shall be collected upon application submittal and shall be non-refundable.
  • Site Plan fee: Residential and Commercial: Twenty-five dollars ($25.00).
  • Swimming Pool: Fifty dollars ($50.00).
  • Re-inspection fees: Twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for the first re-inspection and fifty dollars ($50.00) for each additional.
  • Duplicate copy of building permit: Twenty-five dollars ($25.00).

 

The described schedule of permit fees represents a base description of fees within the Building Department.  The final determination of each fee will be determined upon complete evaluation of the permit application.
