From Brightline:
Brightline’s construction team will continue critical work on its Orlando extension, increasing maximum speeds to 79 mph in Brevard County, to integrate a new second railroad track into the corridor. The work, known as a signal and track cutover, will affect the seven railroad crossings through Rockledge and Melbourne listed below. Trains will operate at speeds of up to 79 miles per hour to perform the necessary testing. Both drivers and pedestrians should be aware that once the second track is commissioned trains could continue to operate at higher speeds and rail traffic could run on ONE OR BOTH tracks in either direction at any time. Flaggers will be present at the affected crossings from 6 a.m., Sunday, July 24 through 6 p.m., Friday, July 29 while the new systems are commissioned, and work could result in additional wait times.
Brightline is reminding the public, pedestrians, motorists and cyclists to make safe choices around trains and crossings, obey all traffic laws around crossings, never stop on the tracks and don’t drive around crossing gates! Remain alert and aware when near railroad tracks and only cross the tracks at a railroad crossing. The safety message is simple: look, listen, live.
