Director's Welcome

I would like to welcome you to the Rockledge Police Department's website and to the City of Rockledge, if you are a visitor.

Thank you for taking the time to find out more about our Police Department. We are a progressive police department made up of a diverse group of 87 men and women, both sworn and non-sworn, who are committed to keeping Rockledge a safe, family-friendly city.

The Rockledge Police Department is a full-service police agency comprised of dedicated personnel who carry out our philosophy of community-oriented policing. Through a partnership with the residents of Rockledge, we can work to solve problems and improve the quality of life for the entire community. Part of that partnership is to provide open, transparent communications with our public partners.

The Rockledge Police Department is committed to maintaining the highest degree of professionalism, integrity and courtesy. Our mission statement reflects our commitment: The Rockledge Police Department strives to improve the quality of life by reducing crime and fear through enhanced partnerships with our stakeholders and by being responsive to our citizens' needs at all times.

It is an exciting time here at the Rockledge Police Department, as a number of improvements are being made daily to better serve our community. Internally - Officers have been utilizing body cameras while performing their duties for over a year. The body cameras have dramatically reduced citizen complaints as well as use of force incidents. We recently became a CFA Accredited law enforcement agency, receiving a flawless onsite evaluation. The diversity of our sworn officers has dramatically increased; currently, minority officers represent approximately 40% of our force. The Rockledge Police Department is pleased to announce that we have been awarded two additional officers under the 2015 COPS Hiring Program. The three-year grant will fund an additional 2 police officers. RPD will assign the officers to work part time in two areas: A Community Oriented Policing Unit and School Resource Officers in the elementary schools. The additional officers will help bridge the gap between the youth in our community and local law enforcement. RPD was ranked within the top 10% of law enforcement agencies nationwide and 1 of only 7 agencies in the state of Florida to be awarded funds. This award validates on a national level practices and policies enacted by the Rockledge Police Department and also demonstrates our commitment to become even better partners with our community! Externally - we have enhanced the dialogue with our community through NIXLE - a trusted, neighborhood-level public safety communication system. RPD along with Brevard EOC conducted an active shooter class for our community. Our recent Thanksgiving food drive was wildly successful. RPD collected 110 turkeys, 9 hams and 2,500 pounds of food for our community’s less fortunate.

I invite you to explore this website to learn more about the Rockledge Police Department and to watch for updates in the future. This website is kept live and current, so be sure to check back often. If we can be of service to you, please contact us.
